Food Addiction Coach Dr Bunmi Aboaba thought, when she set up her business, she would be able to handle the PR coverage herself. But the reality of trying to do that and grow her company very quickly made her realise it didn’t make sense to stretch herself so thinly between the two.
I even took myself off to a PR workshop, convinced I would be able to do it all myself but it didn’t take long for me to realise I didn’t have the personal bandwidth for that.
It’s just too difficult to get the media coverage you need, yourself, when you are also focused on growing your company. It’s one corner in business that you really can’t afford to cut and if I only have one piece of advice to anyone in the same boat it would be to bring in the experts. The results will be tenfold, and you won’t be run ragged trying to be all things to everyone.
There came a point in my business where I knew I needed to get my name out there. I had come to a bit of a wall and I needed more exposure and more media coverage.
Unfortunately, I had tried working with a PR company briefly early on and, not to put too fine a point on it, they were truly rubbish, so I was naturally a bit apprehensive about going down the same route again.
I really didn’t know where to turn and was chatting to a friend who I trusted, about it and they highly recommended Chantal, so I decided to take the plunge.
From the start I knew it was a bang-on decision and I have never, not for a second, regretted it.
From the get-go Panpathic was getting me consistent articles in the press which was just brilliant. I was blown away by the response.
My work covers the full spectrum of disordered eating, including overeating, compulsive eating and emotional eating along with other associated patterns so it was important that I got exposure in the right places.
Panpathic has achieved a lot of national magazine coverage for me including Woman magazine, My Weekly and Bella. On average I am getting something published at least three or four times a month.
As a result, even though it’s been a short campaign, I really feel I now have a high profile in my field. Panpathic has definitely put me on the map as a food addiction expert.
Podcasts are something Chantal has really pushed for me, I honestly wouldn’t have known where to start with that, but these have generated a huge amount of interest for me. I am so pleased at the way that particular medium has taken off for me. It has really helped to build my credibility.
People do research you when you pop up as an expert in the media so it was very important for me to have all that media exposure behind me. The fact that I have been in a variety of publications is a huge endorsement for what I do. I believe it really validated my business and me.
If anyone is hesitating about teaming up with Chantal and Panpathic I would urge them to just do it.
I feel so safe with Chantal. She is diligent and she really knows her stuff. There is no doubt in my mind that working with this team has positioned me nicely in my field and I am now at a point where I can take the company forward and grow it.
Also, Chantal’s rates are so reasonable. Unlike some PR companies that charge a fortune and deliver very little in return, I think Panpathic is great value for money.
I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever about teaming up with this PR company and I look forward to working with Chantal and her team for many years to come.
